Laboratory Service Assistant

About The Role

This is a casual/temporary contract where you will be required to offer flexibility. Minimum of 12 hours per week, potential to stretch out up to 30 hours per week. Hours worked between 8 am and 6 pm.

The Laboratory Service Technician will be required to;
  • Receive and dispatch pipettes in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform decontamination and preventive maintenance (PM) on pipettes.
  • Provide efficient calibration and repair services for pipettes, adhering to internal protocols and ISO standards.
  • Accurately record all parts used and relevant service details in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Issue comprehensive calibration certificate and service reports for each completed job.
  • Conduct internal equipment checks to maintain laboratory standards.
  • Respond promptly to customer enquiries and provide updates on the status of their service requests.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of services offered by the Liquid Handling Service Centre.
  • Strive to achieve laboratory KPIs, maintaining high quality standards and customer satisfaction.
  • Minimize customer returns by ensuring all services and repairs meet quality and workmanship expectations.
  • Foster an efficient, productive, and harmonious work environment.
  • Escalate any procedural issues or concerns to the Laboratory Team Leader as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the laboratory.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Laboratory Team Leader.
About The Person 
    • Minimum TAFE Qualification or Degree in a Scientific Discipline.
    • Experience in laboratory environment, using a pipette. 
    • Previous experience in pipette servicing, calibration, or a related technical field is an advantage
    • Strong attention to detail, with accurate record-keeping skills
    • Experience in a fast-paced lab environment
    • Effective communicator, both with customers and within the team.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
